40th ANNIVERSARY OF A CHRISTMAS CAROL (1984)
It’s 40 years since the movie A Christmas Carol premiered in 1984. The film was widely praised for its sets, soundtrack, cinematography, and the performances of the cast, particularly George C Scott’s portrayal of Scrooge. Since then it has become a yearly fixture on television in the USA and many other countries. Scott was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or a Special for his portrayal of Scrooge, and the music, especially the carol God Bless Us Every One by Nick & Tony Bicât is a firm favourite, and being sung increasingly in carol services and people’s homes in the USA and UK, where many have purchased the sheet music for their own use.
